Press Release

Forces Financial wraps up another good deal at ATR Winchester , and announces total savings for new recruits of £142,365

The wraps came off the latest free-to-use cash machine to be rebranded by Forces Financial at the Army Training Regiment in Winchester this week. New recruits were on hand to watch the unveiling of the machine, which has saved young soldiers in the barracks £32,000 in charges over the past 11 months.

Forces Financial, or NAAFI Financial as it was previously known, has an established track record of providing ATRs with free-to-use machines, giving recruits easy access to their cash without penalty at this early stage of their training. Consequently, in addition to saving £32,000 at Winchester , the firm's machines at Pirbright, Lichfield , Bassingbourn and ITC Catterick have saved recruits a total of £142,000 in withdrawal charges over the last 11 months.

Al Voice, Forces Financial Managing Director commented, “We are a company that has a fundamentally responsible approach to business, and one that genuinely seeks to put something back. Here at Winchester , as with all our ATR machines, I understand the importance of making cash available to the youngsters whilst they undertake their initial training restricted to barracks. This outweighs any commercial considerations we may have. We recognise that as a business we too have a duty of care; and we take it very seriously.

OC of HQ Company, Major J Edmonds said:

“We are delighted that Forces Financial has supplied a free cash machine for our personnel here.  It is especially important for our recruits who operate under quite strict conditions for the first seven weeks here while they learn how to operate in a team and adapt to Army life.  Having this free cash machine facility makes a subtle but considerable difference to them as they are encouraged to manage their money carefully.  The savings they now make during their 14 weeks here can easily be in excess of £50 per recruit, which is very generous of Forces Financial to waive.”

Forces Financial, a specialist in insurance and financial services for the military, has teamed up with Bank Machine, the leading independent ATM operator in the UK , to offer the commanders of every UK military establishment a free-to-use cash machine. This initiative, one of many announced to mark the launch of Forces Financial and aimed at bringing added value to HM Forces, has triggered a number of enquiries from commanding officers wishing to explore this free service for those under their command.
